Ein halbes Jahr Bali – Unser neues Kapitel

Six months in Bali – Our new chapter

Normally, our posts focus a lot on AFATO, surfing, and design. Today, things are a bit more personal. We – Diandra and Fabian – want to take you along on our life here in Bali and tell you what's happened in the last six months.

Almost six months ago, we left everything behind and moved to Bali. What initially felt like a leap into the unknown has now become our everyday life. It's crazy how long time feels – and yet it's only been 24 weeks, in which so much has happened. is assisted.

Arriving in Seminyak – right in the middle of the hustle and bustle
We spent our first few weeks in Seminyak, one of the island's busiest tourist resorts. Like all newcomers, we let ourselves drift along: between crowded streets, beach clubs, scooters, and the first sunsets over the Indian Ocean. It was exciting, vibrant, and chaotic – a perfect start, but not the place where we wanted to stay long-term.

The search for a home – and a new sense of peace
We searched long and hard until we finally landed in Kedungu. A small town on Bali's west coast that immediately felt "right" to us. Here we found our villa – comfortably furnished, not too big, with a small garden that instantly made us feel at home.

We had barely moved in when we explored the area: quiet streets, vast rice paddies, a beach where the sun sinks into the sea every evening. Exactly the mix we had dreamed of.

Ariel – our little whirlwind
And then Ariel came into our lives. We had only intended to visit a puppy house. But then she sat there, looking at us with her big eyes – and that was it for us. We couldn't leave her behind.

The first few weeks with her were hectic. Sleep was scarce, but there were plenty of puppy adventures. Arielle turned our lives upside down in no time – and enriched them immensely. Today, she's almost unrecognizable: grown up, confident, and our constant companion. She rides with us on the scooter, explores beaches and cafes – and we can't imagine life without her.

Between waves, work and everyday life
Surfing was, of course, one of the reasons we moved to Bali. We've now found our favorite spots and go in the water regularly – sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the waves, work, and daily life. For us, it's not a race for sessions, but rather a part of our rhythm of life here.

In parallel, we continue to develop AFATO and draw inspiration from the island's energy. Between creative projects, new routines, and Arielle's adventures, a daily life gradually emerges that feels both like work and freedom.

Conclusion – Six months that have changed us
Looking back, it feels like we spent a whole year in Bali – when in fact it was only six months. We found our home, adopted a little dog, and completely rebuilt our daily lives.

For us, Bali is not just an adventure, but the beginning of a new chapter – as a team, as a brand, and as a small family. And we're excited to see where the next few months will take us.
