HI, I'M DIANDRA - FOUNDER, DESIGNER, AND THE HEART BEHIND AFATO
AFATO is my vision of creating sustainable surfwear for women that truly works in the water while looking timeless and stylish.

FINDING MY OWN DIRECTION
For six years, I worked as a fashion designer for a large German fashion company. I was creating new collections constantly, always chasing deadlines and trends. While I learned everything about fabrics, fit, and production, I also saw the downsides of overproduction and unsustainable practices.
That’s why I started AFATO as a side project—designing pieces that women could rely on season after season, made responsibly and built to last.

THE SEARCH FOR FUNCTIONAL & SUSTAINABLE SURFWEAR
On my travels, I saw a clear gap: eco-friendly surfwear that stays in place, feels comfortable, and still looks amazing was hard to find. Most options either moved around in the waves, lacked durability, or came with a heavy environmental footprint.
I wanted to change that. AFATO focuses on functional surf bikinis made from sustainable, high-quality materials—pieces that give women confidence in the water.

THE LEAP TO BALI
In July 2025, I made the decision to leave my 9–6 job in Germany behind and move to Bali. I wanted the freedom to create my own schedule, live close to the ocean, and focus fully on building AFATO.
A few months ago, my partner Fabian joined the brand. Together, we continue to grow AFATO into a label who value style, performance, and sustainability.

WHY THE NAME AFATO
AFATO comes from the words “As Free As The Ocean”. It’s a reminder to live life on your own terms—to take the leap, trust your vision, and create something meaningful. Our surf bikinis are designed to make you feel exactly that: free, confident, and fully focused on the waves—without any distractions or adjustments.
